Resource consents and feasibility studies

Incite secures resource consents for projects of all sizes, from residential and commercial developments to community facilities and subdivisions. This includes multi-unit housing and specialist projects such as:

Our feasibility studies help clients determine whether a site is suitable for a proposed project under the relevant planning framework. We work closely with architects, engineers, transport specialists, landscape architects and urban designers to identify issues early and prepare robust applications before they are lodged with the council.

Consent processing

Incite regularly processes resource consent applications for local authorities. We can provide additional capacity during busy periods or staff shortages, process council-led applications, and manage complex consents. Our team coordinates applications involving both regional and district councils and can provide expert planning evidence during appeals.

processing applications for Canterbury, Otago and Southland regional councils and Tasman and Gisborne unitary councils

processing applications for Whanganui, Kāpiti Coast, Wellington City, Hutt City, Hurunui, Waimakariri, and Selwyn district councils

managing the renewal of historical water permits in the Manuherekia catchment, on behalf of Otago Regional Council, ensuring compliance with updated water management regulations

reviewing and updating internal council processes, guidance and templates, including standard consent conditions and report templates

appearing as expert witnesses in several water permit applications for large irrigation schemes

Service station and truck fuelling facilities

Incite has extensive experience securing consents for new service stations, truck stops and environmental upgrades to existing facilities, including work on contaminated sites. We obtain resource consents for stormwater discharges, site dewatering, excavation and the removal of contaminated soil. We also coordinate technical input from transport and acoustic specialists, civil engineers, and soil and groundwater consultants.

multiple new sites for Waitomo Energy as they expanded to the South Island

Tasman Fuels as a new supplier to the market, including new self-serve sites in Halswell, Ashburton, Haast and Lake Tekapo

Residential developments

Incite regularly assists clients with residential development projects, including multi-unit housing. We prepare feasibility and scoping reports advising on site selection and constraints, and obtain resource consents for projects ranging from small to large scale across the country.

Public buildings and recreational facilities

Incite has secured resource consents for the redevelopment of community centres following the Canterbury earthquakes. This work included consenting for historically contaminated land and stormwater discharges, as well as coordinating input from transport engineers and acoustic specialists. We have also prepared Notices of Requirement for dog parks, sports fields, indoor stadiums and clubrooms.

Outdoor media

Incite is the principal planning advisor for outdoor media companies operating in New Zealand and Australia. Our work covers static and digital billboards, including premium digital ‘super sites’ in prominent inner-city locations.
